The National Center for Mental Health (Director Kwak Young-sook) announced that from August 22 to October 11, it will host a mental health art therapy exhibition titled “Art – A Time for Self-Healing, Finding Self-Portraits” at Gallery M on the basement floor of the center.
This exhibition is organized in collaboration with the Nueru Culture and Arts Organizations and aims to help modern individuals discover their hidden emotions and promote self-healing and recovery.
Supported by the Seoul Metropolitan Government and Seoul Hong Dental Clinic, the exhibition features the work of four visual artists—Kim Yeon-hee, Na Yeori, Lee Kyung-hyun, and Hannah Kay—who use art as a medium to convey messages of emotional recovery and positive change.
Additionally, on October 11, in celebration of World Mental Health Day, a pop-up event titled “Emotion Coaching Vending Machine” will be held, offering visitors various art-themed goods connected to emotions such as hope, gratitude, love, and joy.
Hong Jung-min, Director of Neuru Cultural Arts Organizations, expressed hope that this art therapy project will provide a time for self-recovery for those who need comfort and healing.
Director Kwak Young-sook of the National Center for Mental Health added that the exhibition is an effort to break down social stigmas around mental health and encourage more people to take an interest in their emotional well-being.
The exhibition is free and open to the public, though group visits require prior reservation. For more details, visit the National Center for Mental Health’s official website at www.ncmh.go.kr.
